Photos of the Week - February 9, 2009

The legendary and recently departed sportscaster, Jim McCay coined the term, “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.” These words come to mind for this weeks photos of the week, which pain me to post. While I do love the UVM Mens Basketball, I was shocked by the let down they had in the second half last Wednesday. These photos come from the rematch between the previously top ranked Catamounts in the America East as they tried to avenge their first conference loss of the season to Binghamton. In this tale of two halves, the Catamounts roared out of the gates rolling into halftime with a 23 point lead at 53-30, as Mike Trimboli nailed a jumper with time expiring. In a Manny Ramirez like fashion, he then proceeded to high five all the old timers in the front row before heading to the locker room. That was the good part. After intermission, UVM found themselves with a 25 point lead as the proverbial wheels began to fall off. Binghamton proceeded to hit three pointer after three pointer and D.J. Rivera pushed his way into the lane with 7 seconds left to put the Bearcats up at 85-83 and that was that. What ensued is this weeks set of photos of the week. You will see “The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat,” after a team who was all but out makes an amazing comeback, and its opponent gives away a W.
